College Support

'Our Community Connector works primarily with young people aged 16-19 who are not engaged in or disengaging with education, employment or training (NEET) and provides access to personalised support through low level mentoring and social prescribing with the aim of inspiring participants to re-engage with education, employment or training.

Salford City College and Salford Foundation have teamed up to provide support to students at risk of disengagement and/or exclusion to maintain focus, address issues and barriers to learning.’

What people are saying

“I have learned to control my time and in the mean time I have learnt to become flexible. I have been given access to a number of training opportunities and I am currently working towards gaining my Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Level 2 NVQ. I think as well that as a person, my own personal skills and knowledge have increased. I feel I have developed my communication skills, my people skills and also my knowledge of opportunities for Young People in Salford.”

“I enjoy socialising and meeting new people - I feel more confident now. I have passed my Level 2 English, and now I am working towards my maths Level 2 I’m really proud of myself.”

“Katie has been such an asset to my department. She works enthusiastically and completes all her tasks. I know how challenging her background is, but she’s tried so hard not to let this affect the placement. We’ve been so pleased with Katie, we’ve agreed to extend her placement beyond the 12 week threshold.
